The End of the Green New Scam?

The End of the Green New Scam?

Happy morning from Northern Italy — where the locals believe in renewable energy too… as long as the renewal comes in the form of Barolo.

Meanwhile, back in America, one of the greatest political grifts of the century is finally being unplugged. Thank heavens (and perhaps it’ll serve as a model for the rest of Western Europe). The Green New Scam — that remarkable scheme where politicians promised to fix the weather with taxes, mandates, and offshore wind farms that kill everything except CO₂ — has officially flatlined.

You can almost hear the wailing from Davos to Sacramento: “But we were so close to controlling your thermostat!”

Sorry, kids. Turns out voters don’t want to freeze for the greater good.

Let’s walk through how this ecological Ponzi scheme collapsed under the weight of its own sanctimony.

Trump Pulled the Plug, Ripped Out the Wires, and Torched the Manual

On January 20th, President Trump signed Executive Order 14154 — “Unleashing American Energy.”

The name alone sounds like it should come wrapped in an American flag and accompanied by a guitar solo from Kid Rock. This wasn’t some tiny regulatory tweak. It was a reverse-Apollo mission: one giant leap back to reality.

The order revoked Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act and suspended the slush that funded green boondoggles across the country.

Projects that generated nothing but press releases? Funding frozen.

“Environmental justice” grants that mostly sustain environmental activists? Denied.

The invisible pipeline funneling taxpayer money into green cronies’ pockets had just been shut off.

Oil, gas, coal, and nuclear suddenly became “patriotic” again.

The Budget Guillotine Came Down

Then came Trump’s FY2026 budget, which made The Purge look like a gentle kiss.

More than $15 billion earmarked for unreliable renewables, EV fantasies, “carbon removal” (a medieval exorcism disguised as science), and foreign climate guilt-payments was simply deleted.

No more federal allowance for $65,000 battery-powered virtue signals that die if you turn on the heater. No more free cash for solar farms that produce “energy” the same way crypto miners produce “money” — theoretically. No more blank checks to international bureaucrats who fly private jets to conferences about reducing emissions.

The industrial complex of green rent-seekers — lobbyists, grant-leeches, ESG worshippers — is suddenly discovering what capitalism feels like without taxpayer training wheels.

The Politics Went Sour — And Voters Turned Out the Lights

For years, green evangelists got away with telling the public that replacing working infrastructure with fragile tech was a moral imperative. They wore “Science” as armor and labeled skeptics as Earth-murderers.

Then utility bills arrived.

In states like New Jersey and Maryland, lawmakers now openly slam what they call “climate cultists” who hijacked the grid and made electricity a luxury product. Even hard-blue constituencies have started throwing metaphorical tomatoes at solar panels.

From Zero Hedge:

Powering the Mid-Atlantic plans to hold hearings in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, and Virginia. The state delegates are joining forces because their states all share the same grid and transmission lines and have seen power bills skyrocket due to backfiring climate change initiatives, such as retiring reliable fossil fuel power plants for unreliable solar and wind. In return, PJM (Mid-Atlantic) remains critically tight, with limited spare capacity.

Polls show support collapsing for EV subsidies, renewable mandates, and the idea that the government should decide what kind of stove you can own. Democrats, seeing the political death spiral, have quietly shoved the Green New Deal into the attic with the campaign promises they hope you forget.

When the lights flicker and the bill doubles, the climate crusade stops being a dream and starts being a crime scene.

Markets Are Already Sniffing the Shift

This isn’t just a political victory. It’s a capital rotation. Traditional energy has returned from exile like Napoleon marching into Paris — but this time he has pipelines. Permits are accelerating. Drilling is booming. LNG exports are once again a national priority.

Meanwhile, subsidy-dependent green stocks look like Wile E. Coyote when he runs off a cliff. Wind/solar operators now have to explain why they cost more, work less, and depend on nonexistent weather patterns.

Investors who bet on ideology now face a reckoning. Investors who bet on physics are ordering champagne.

The Scam Was Always Going to Die Like This

Again, from Zero Hedge:

Backfiring climate change initiatives have collided with the era of data center hookups across the Mid-Atlantic area. The Trump administration has rushed to bring retired fossil-fuel power plants back onto the grid to increase desperately needed spare capacity, while nuclear power won't be a major story until the 2030s.

Perhaps Republican lawmakers in the Mid-Atlantic have a breakthrough to communicate to voters just how terrible Democrats have become with their left-wing policies. Meanwhile, Democrats in these states have spent more time catering to illegal aliens, DEI, and other Marxist-aligned policies instead of finding proper solutions to fix this power mess. Sounds like people in these states are about to vote with their empty wallets.

Because the Green New Deal wasn’t a plan — it was a revenue extraction mechanism dressed up as salvation. It was a way to launder taxpayer money into private pockets while claiming moral superiority. It was activism by mandate, economics by hallucination, and engineering by press conference.

It survived as long as nobody asked the obvious question: How exactly are we powering a civilization of 330 million people on vibes and government coupons?

Now voters are asking, and the answers suck.

Wrap Up

The Green New Scam lasted from 2009 to 2025. It was born from idealism, raised on subsidies, and died from arithmetic.

We’ve entered the era of pragmatism over panic, profit over propaganda, energy over ideology.

Stick with what works. Trade around what’s collapsing. Invest where the power is — literally.

Finally… some good news on this front!
